Message temperature inside the plenum (on a TT, at least) should be hotter than the surrounding air outside the plenum in the upper engine bay. I believe Damon and/or Nixit verified this with some temperature measurement during their water injection experimentation a few years back.

That being the case, you wouldn't want to thermally insulate the plenum. Heat only flows in one direction: hot --> cold.
